1. Tell us about your organization.

Hausmann is a construction management and construction services firm that supports complex construction projects across the region. As a CMAR, our primary contribution to the energy sector comes during the planning phase, where we work closely with owners and design teams to evaluate and recommend efficient, constructible building systems. This includes input on site development, utilities, and building systems that support reliable, cost-effective, and forward-looking energy solutions. We then help deliver those projects through coordinated construction and specialized trade management.

2. What types of renewable energy does your organization focus on?

Our work supports renewable and energy-adjacent projects broadly rather than focusing on a single technology. As a CMAR, we are most often involved in the planning and delivery of facilities and infrastructure incorporating renewable systems, including site development, utilities, and specialized building systems. We have significant experience with geothermal systems, including geothermal well fields, and bring a practical understanding of how renewable energy technologies are implemented in real-world projects across a range of building types. We also have experience supporting energy infrastructure through work on electric operations facilities.

3. What inspired your organization to get involved in renewable energy?

Hausmann’s involvement has grown naturally as energy infrastructure evolves and is incorporated in designs. As utilities, municipalities, and private owners invest in renewable and diversified energy sources, there is an increasing need for experienced construction partners who understand material and system selection, cost control, safety, and coordination. Supporting these projects aligns with our commitment to building resilient infrastructure that serves communities for the long term.

4. What motivated you to become a member of SoDak Renewables?

Membership allows Hausmann to stay connected to the conversations shaping South Dakota’s energy future. Being part of SoDak Renewables helps us better understand policy trends, emerging technologies, and stakeholder priorities so we can be a more informed and effective partner across all our projects, including energy-related projects. It also creates opportunities for collaboration across the industry.

5. What developments in South Dakota’s renewable energy future are you most excited about?

We’re encouraged by the continued investment in grid reliability, energy diversification, and infrastructure modernization across the state. As renewable generation expands, we see exciting opportunities to improve supporting infrastructure—utilities, storage, and facilities—that ensure these systems are durable, efficient, and well-integrated into existing communities.

6. Can you share a recent project, partnership, or initiative that you’re particularly proud of?

While not renewable-specific, we’re proud of our work on infrastructure-heavy projects that required close coordination with utilities, engineers, and owners to deliver complex systems efficiently. These experiences translate directly to energy and renewable-adjacent work, where safety, sequencing, and long-term performance are critical.

7. How can others connect with your organization?
