1. Tell us about your organization.

Malloy stands as the premier bearing distributor for wind turbines. Our focus is on identifying the root causes of premature failures in gearbox, blade, and main shaft bearings. Through this in-depth investigation, we develop and provide upgraded bearings engineered to extend service life and contribute to a lower Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) for the wind energy sector.

3. What inspired your organization to get involved in renewable energy?

As the wind industry took root in our region in the late 1990s, Malloy was uniquely positioned to support its growth, leveraging our extensive experience with other industrial sectors. Initially, many wind applications mirrored general industrial ones. However, over the last 25 years, wind technology has become highly specialized. This evolution led us to create a focused wind division at Malloy, ensuring expert support tailored specifically for the industry's unique demands.

4. What motivated you to become a member of SoDak Renewables?

Our involvement with industry organizations like SDREA is crucial for staying updated on the latest trends, collaborating effectively with peers, and building a network of companies and individuals who share our goals.

5. What developments in South Dakota's renewable energy future are you most excited about?

It's inspiring to witness South Dakota's ongoing development of wind farms. With a top-five national wind resource, expanding our installed capacity is a powerful way to harness this valuable asset for the state.

6. Can you share a recent project, partnership, or initiative that you’re particularly proud of?

We're actively growing our network of operator and service provider partnerships within the industry. Whenever a wind turbine bearing needs replacement in the U.S., you can count on us. Our extensive expertise allows us to provide comprehensive support and bearing supply, whether it's for investigating novel application failure modes or for large-scale repowering initiatives.
