Founded in 1970 by Dick and Darlene Muth, Muth Electric is proudly celebrating 56 years in business. What began as a two-person operation has grown into a company of more than 650 employees across ten locations throughout South Dakota and Omaha, Nebraska. Throughout its history, Muth Electric has continued to grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of the industries and communities it serves. Muth Electric provides electrical construction and design/build services for a wide range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Over the years, the company’s expertise has expanded to include hospitals, water and wastewater treatment facilities, correctional facilities, airport runway and roadway lighting, industrial plants, schools, military facilities, office buildings, major retail stores, and more. Muth Electric plays an important role in the renewable energy sector through its involvement in wind energy, solar projects, biofuels, hydrogen plants, and other emerging energy technologies. By supporting the development and infrastructure behind these projects, Muth Electric helps deliver reliable, innovative, and sustainable energy solutions for customers and communities across the region.

3. What inspired your organization to get involved in renewable energy?
Muth Electric’s involvement in renewable energy was driven by our commitment to serving our customers’ evolving needs and staying ahead in a changing energy landscape. As demand for renewable energy solutions grew, we recognized the
importance of expanding into different areas of the industry so we could continue providing innovative and reliable services to our customers. Another major motivation has been our commitment to employee growth and development. Entering the renewable energy sector has created new opportunities for our team to build specialized skills, work with emerging technologies, and grow professionally alongside the industry.
Over time, our involvement has evolved from exploring renewable energy opportunities to actively expanding our capabilities and expertise within the sector. Today, renewable energy is an important part of how Muth Electric continues to support customers, invest in employees, and position the company for long-term growth and innovation.
4. What motivated you to become a member of SoDak Renewables?
Muth Electric is excited to be a member of SoDak Renewables so we can continue supporting the evolving needs of our customers and to stay actively engaged in the growth of the renewable energy industry. As renewable energy opportunities continue to expand, we value being part of an organization that promotes education, advocacy, collaboration, and industry development across the region.
We appreciate the services and support that SoDak Renewables provides and want to be an active member of the association. Our membership aligns with our goals of growing our renewable energy expertise, building industry relationships, and staying informed on emerging technologies and opportunities.
